Memories from the Neighborhood

This is a submission received August 4, 2006 via Mutant Mail from a former Bradfordian. She lived in the MB neighborhood so I am sure she shares a special kinship with the sacred landmark.

I grew up in a neighborhood near Campus Drive and would frequently drive past Mutant Beach.  I fondly recall the shark that used to grace that concrete slab.  But does anyone remember the phrase in white....I think at the top left of the concrete....."Jesse Let's...."  Whatever the author wanted Jesse to do...well...it was painted over.  I always wondered who Jesse was...and what said author was requesting.  This has been a topic of conversation and debate at my family dinner table in Bradford throughout the years.

I've longed since moved away from Bradford, but this website and Mutant Beach are
what make Bradfordians some of the greatest folks in the world!!!

Cheers,
EL

[MBPS NOTE: EL, we couldn't agree with you more]

The shark brings back fond memories but "Jesse Let's..." doesn't ring a bell.  Readers?  Perhaps it was originally "Jesse Let's Paint This Beach Together TLA".  Or not.

On August 7, 2006 SL submitted this response to EL's post:

I am a vintage mutant beach watcher, having grown up when the beach was built. I watched the revelry unfold on almost a daily basis. I know the history of "Jessie let's....".

This is not the time to be politically correct, as History is littered with such abominations. History should be unvarnished FACT.

The phrase above is just as important as "the Shark" to MB history.  I saw it in its vintage and pristine form.  It simply refers to a sex act, plain and simple.  I saw it.
[MBPS NOTE: You saw the actual act or the painted reference to the sex act?]

Jessie was obviously a local; maybe from the Brookline Turtle clan, and her warrior was honoring her name with the phrase. Perhaps before he went into battle with the Corydon Street Wolf Clan. It's kind of like the giant murals up on the gorge walls on the Mohawk River near
Canajoharie. Unexplained...

Don't pull punches. History is History, or perhaps "Herstory", as the academic folks now teach.

SL, veteran MB watcher from New York State.

Jessie could have been male or female.  As Rick would say "I wish that I had Jessie's girl"
